Here are the highlight's from this week's edition of The Note

Anthony Ramos  Style: pop/R&B
Having gained fame from originating the dual roles of John Laurens and Phillip Hamilton in Hamilton. He also played Ramon, Lady Gaga's sidekick in A Star is Born. Ramos teamed up with songwriter/producer Will Wells to release The Freedom EP in 2018. Most recently, Ramos put out "Dear Diary", a stirring song that gets better and better each time you listen to it. Now signed to Republic Records, he plans to release his debut album at the end of the summer.

Pixx  Style: electro-rock
Yet another happening band coming out of London, Pixx (the project of 23 year old singer/songwriter Hannah Rodgers) has been laying waste to venues across the country recently. Their debut American tour is wrapping up soon in LA, and if you missed them in Boston and Brooklyn, you missed a chance to see what would have quickly become one of your favorite bands. Uptempo while simultaneously laconic, deep, and riveting, Rodgers' songwriting is truly captivating.

Jordan Rakei  Style: hip hop
At 26 years old, New Zealand-born and Australia-raised Jordan Rakei already has a slew of accolades to his name. His hip-hop sound is cleverly coupled with jazz and soul influences, making his style quite at home in his new residence of London. In June, he released Origin, his third record and first since 2017. Rakei admitted to using techniques and styles that were uncomfortable to him on Origin, straying away from hip hop, toward soul/R&B, but the results are stellar. Origin is refreshingly different and fun to listen to.

Raphael Saadiq  Style: R&B
I know we say we that we feature up and coming artists on The Note. Raphael Saadiq isn't up and coming. He's been one of the most established R&B musicians and producers for three decades. However his solo work is still under-appreciated. Saadiq is releasing Jimmy Lee, his first solo album in eight years August 23 on Columbia Records. He has released three singles off the record so far, each better than the last. Word on the street says the LP includes contributions from Kendrick Lamar and A Tribe Called Quest.
